Grid computing with .NET and soon with WCF

Just found Digipede, which I believe is the first Grid computing fx developed in .NET for the Windows platform. [update, see correction below]

Cool stuff! Something new to have a play with.

 [update]

WinFS fails/fades into the Vista?

It makes one wonder when you hear that WinFS is to fade into non-existence? 2+ years of mud slinging about the delays with Vista and Longhorn in general, and then the announcement comes that one of the big ticket items that has been lagging for ages is now no longer going to ship as a seperate product!

I especially found the news to be extremely interesting as they were talking about the upcoming release of WinFS Beta 2 at TechEd at few weeks ago? huh?

.NET Framework 3.0 - June 2006 CTP

.NET Framework 3.0 - June 2006 CTP has just been released, which also includes a RC for Windows Workflow Foundation.

Also, its seems while it's not a final WCF RC1 build it does incorporate all the final programming model tweaks that have been planned since/post Beta2.

Has the network effect or the power law hit distributed computing?

Here’s a bit of a mind bender, has the network effect or the power law hit distributed computing? And hit it in an unusual way? And in a way that no one talks about?

The reason I ask, is well ……. have a look at this beast from HP! Does it not change lots of things in distributed computing?

If you were to buy this beast, what type of distributed computing are doing and how does it match up to the box?

If you don’t buy this beast! Are you doing a totally different type of distributed computing?

Has the network effect on Distributed computing created a two tier system of distributed architectures at its highest level? Is the Web the new enterprise?

More later!

and a new era begins.... as the MS CSA transitions from Gates to Ozzie
Will the Web and TechMeme survive the onslaught of folks looking for info. on the monumental news that Bill Gates is to transition from being full time at MS to being full time at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, who knows…..

The offical press release is here, but note that this is here also and this is an equally important thing in my view.

Is this a tipping point for the 2–way web? Has it now become as important to engage with the grass roots as it is to engage with those that offically/historally spread “the word”? Interesting times ahead, and even more interesting by how MS has choosen to do it?

/Paul

ps

For those that think they are in charge, now is the time for you to stand up and learn/listen! “The world is flat” and you have to localise all the way to “me”.

PubSub.com may close it doors soon

I have been a huge fan of the technology that the folks over at PubSub.com have been creating.

It will be sad to see them fall off the grid (and I hope they survive in some form or other), as I think they have some powerful ideas that will be an important part of the new 2 way Web.

For more details, see http://bobwyman.pubsub.com/main/2006/06/the_rumors_of_o.html

ps

Totally agree with Niall Kennedy on this, I think perhaps this not the best discussion to have on a blog, this kind of stuff can bite you in the rear.

Microsoft preps IE 7 Beta 3 for August

Microsoft preps IE 7 Beta 3 for August

Maybe its just me, but I’m a little disappointed that the big house has not moved IE on further? Sure its better and a step in the right direction, but it ain’t a huge one? And the ecosystem for plugins around their competitors is far better?
